We recently caught up with our Accounting Program student, Janae Sampson, after her amazing summer week at the Accounting Scholars Development Program (ASDP) at Howard University. And wow, did she have some incredible insights to share!
Janae dove into real-world challenges, working on a case study that pushed her skills to the next level. "Presenting in front of Deloitte leaders and receiving feedback was an unforgettable moment that showed me what it feels like to operate at a professional level," she shared.
Beyond the classroom, Janae got a taste of campus life, appreciating the sense of community and connection. She also learned a valuable lesson about the accounting profession. "I was surprised by how much collaboration is involved," she said. "I used to think of accounting as mostly numbers and individual work, but I learned that teamwork, communication, and problem-solving are just as important."
Janae's advice to other students is simple: "Do it! Take the leap and apply."
